About Corsica Linea

Corsica Linea is a French shipping line based in Ajaccio on Corsica. It began operating on 5 January 2016 as the successor to the insolvent SNCM (Société Nationale Maritime Corse Méditerranée), taking over its ships and routes; for this reason it still appears in older timetables and booking systems under the names SNCM or Maritima Ferries. According to the company, it operates nine ships under the French flag in the first register, employs 1,500 people, including 1,200 seafarers, and is thus the largest employer of French seafarers in the Mediterranean. From Marseille and Sète it sails to Corsica (Ajaccio, Bastia, Propriano, Île-Rousse), to Algeria (Algiers, Béjaïa, Skikda) and to Tunis; the Corsica routes run under a public service contract.

Fleet on the Maghreb routes

For Algeria and Tunisia, Corsica Linea deploys two ferries and one combined ferry: the Jean Nicoli, the Danielle Casanova and the Méditerranée. The Jean Nicoli, built in 1998, carries 1,500 passengers and 1,000 vehicles, while the Danielle Casanova, from 2002, holds 2,800 passengers and 700 vehicles. According to the timetable data, the Tunis route is mainly served by the Jean Nicoli and the Danielle Casanova. On board there are cabins, Mediterranean restaurants, WiFi and entertainment and relaxation areas; the fleet's six combined ferries, including the LNG-powered A Galeotta launched in 2023, do not sail to Tunis.

Corsica Linea runs the overnight ferry Marseille - Tunis, year-round, with one night at sea: around 800 kilometres and about 21 hours to La Goulette, the port of Tunis roughly 12 kilometres east of the city centre. In Marseille, the line departs from the Grand Port Maritime near the Vieux-Port and the Docks de la Joliette. Check-in, vehicle and pet

For departures to Tunisia, foot passengers check in at Marseille's Porte 3C, and drivers at Porte 3 Beauséjour or Porte 4, depending on the departure. Corsica Linea prints the presence and check-in deadlines on your travel document and sends them by SMS on the day of departure; for Tunis allow at least two hours, or three with a vehicle. At check-in you receive your boarding documents and, where applicable, meal vouchers, followed by the port authorities' security checks. A shuttle takes foot passengers to the ship, while vehicles are parked on the garage deck as directed. Pets travel with Corsica Linea only in the onboard kennel: since 6 November 2018, animals have no longer been allowed in cabins, lounges, restaurants or on the passenger decks, and they may not remain in the vehicle during the crossing. You register the animal when booking and reserve a kennel space for an extra charge. The kennel is secured, ventilated, has a water point and is inspected by the veterinary authorities; each animal gets its own box, for which you bring a padlock. Access is shortly before departure when the garages open, and the kennel is not accessible during the crossing.
